UNBLOCKING WEBSITES

I am frustrated at the number of web sites that are blocked from the district web service. Great Web 2.0 sites are available, yet blocked. For example, blogs have a great use in the classroom! Teachers can create a daily log of what is going on in class for students, parents, and admin to keep track. Yet the web site to create a blog is blocked. Slideshare is also a web 2.0 tool that would allow students and teachers to upload PowerPoint and embed these into the blogs or websites, then anyone without PP could still see the project. I really would love help to begin the conversation with the Tech department on how to get these good tools UNBLOCKED.
